"When Your Ego Says No, But Your Heart Says Yes"
Share
Tomash was done. I was a mess. Twenty-four hours later, we're recording our best episode yet. What happens when you stop listening to the voice that tells you to quit and follow the pull back to love instead?
Hey you,
Okay so... deep breath ... we need to talk about something.
Remember Episode 8 when Tomash said "Maybe next episode I won't record with you" ?
Yeah. About that.
We're back. 😂
Twenty-four hours after he said he was done, we sat down and recorded what might be our best episode yet.
Not because we figured it all out. Not because the tension magically disappeared.
But because his heart said yes, even when his ego screamed no.
The Mental Breakdown Before My Period
Here's the thing: after we recorded Episode 8, I had a full-blown mental breakdown .
Was it the podcast? Was it the fight? Was it PMS?
Yes. All of it. Everything at once. 🙃
It was one day before my period. And if you know, you KNOW. Everything feels 10x more intense. Every trigger hits harder. Every fear feels real.
And Tomash saying he might not record with me anymore?
That activated every abandonment wound I didn't know I still had.
But then... something shifted.
He showed up anyway.
Not because he had to. But because something deeper than his ego pulled him back.
"I Thought This Was Gonna Be Like a Repair Exam"
When I asked him what changed, he said:
"I thought this was gonna be like a repair exam."
(For context: in Europe, if you fail an exam, you get a "repair exam" — a second chance to pass.)
But here's what he realized: that's not how life works.
You can't just delete the past and redo it perfectly.
You can only show up. Again. Imperfectly. And keep going.
His ego said: "No. I'm done."
But his heart said: "Yes. I choose this."
And twenty-four hours later... here we are.
The Ego vs. Your Heart
Tomash said something in this episode that I want you to really sit with:
"Everything goes as you want. But not everything goes as your ego wants."
Your ego is the part of you that resists. That complains. That says "this shouldn't be happening."
But YOU — your true self, your heart — YOU created this moment. You wanted this experience. You chose this lesson.
Even the hard stuff. Even the painful stuff.
You wanted it. Because you needed it.
The only part of you that's suffering? The ego.
But when you can separate yourself from your ego — when you can see it for what it is (just a voice, not the truth) — everything changes.
You stop fighting. You stop resisting. You start accepting.
And that's when your heart can lead.
That's when you show up. Again. And again.
Because love always wins.
The Pull Back to Love
Here's a pattern we've noticed:
Whenever we fight — and I mean REALLY fight — there's always a moment where we come back.
Sometimes it's 5 minutes later. Sometimes it's 3 hours.
But eventually, one of us says:
"I miss you already."
And just like that... we're back.
It's like a gong that vibrates like crazy — loud, chaotic, overwhelming.
But eventually... it settles.
And when it does, the truth is still there:
We love each other. We choose each other.
No matter what.
Tomash's ego said: "I'm done."
But his heart? His heart pulled him back.
Not because I forced him. Not because he "should."
But because underneath all the resistance...
He wanted to be here.
And that pull — that magnetic pull back to love — that's always stronger than the ego.
Always.
The Car Analogy (Or: How to Accept What Is)
We spent a good chunk of this episode talking about acceptance using a car analogy.
Here's the scenario:
Your car breaks down. You can't afford to fix it. Now you have to walk to work every day.
You have two options:
Option 1: Resist it.
Complain. Be angry. Blame everyone. Spend all your energy wishing things were different.
Option 2: Accept it.
Okay. This is what it is. Let me find the good in this. Fresh air. Exercise. Maybe I'll meet someone interesting.
Here's the thing:
Both paths lead to the same place.
Eventually, you WILL accept it. You'll adapt.
Humans are incredibly adaptable.
But the question is: How much suffering do you want to experience before you get there?
Do you want to fight it for months? Listening to your ego say "this is wrong"?
Or do you want to accept it NOW? Listening to your heart say "okay, let's find the good in it"?
You can listen to your ego (resistance, suffering)...
Or you can listen to your heart (acceptance, peace).
One path is suffering. The other is love.
The Paradox of Trying to Accept
Here's where it gets tricky:
A few years ago, I would've been like:
"Okay, I know I'm supposed to accept this. So now I have to FORCE myself to accept it."
But that's already resistance.
That's your ego trying to control acceptance.
You can't force acceptance. You can't white-knuckle your way to peace.
Acceptance happens naturally when you stop trying.
When you stop listening to the ego's demands and just... let your heart lead.
And I know that's frustrating. I know you want the 5-step plan.
But the truth is... there isn't one.
You have to find your own way.
Follow the pull back to love, even when your ego says no.
That's it.
Two Things You Can Actually Do
Tomash offered two practical things that might help you tune into your heart instead of your ego:
1. Be optimistic.
Not toxic positivity. But genuine "what's good about this?" thinking.
Your car broke? Okay, now you get to walk and breathe fresh air.
Your partner triggered you? Okay, now you get to see what wound needs healing.
Ask yourself: "Why is this good for me?"
That's your heart speaking.
2. Be in the present moment.
Not in the past (wishing things were different — that's ego).
Not in the future (hoping things will get better — also ego).
But right here. Right now. Where your heart lives.
Feel the sun. Smell the air. Pet your dog.
This moment is all you have.
That's your heart leading.
This Episode Is For You If...
💔 You've ever said "I'm done" and then felt pulled back anyway
💔 You're learning to tell the difference between your ego and your heart
💔 You want to hear what it sounds like when two people choose love even when their egos scream "RUN"
💔 You're sick of the "5 steps" bullshit and just want someone to be REAL
💔 You believe there's a pull back to love... and you want to learn to trust it
This one's philosophical. Rambling. Real.
But it's also honest. And weirdly comforting.
Because sometimes you don't need answers.
You just need to know you're not alone in following that pull back to love.
Come Listen
Episode 9 is different.
We didn't plan a topic. We just sat down — twenty-four hours after Tomash said he was done — and talked.
About why he came back. About ego vs. heart. About acceptance vs. resistance.
It's not pretty. But it's real.
And if you've ever wondered how to tell the difference between your ego's fear and your heart's truth...
Or if you just want to hear two people choose love over and over again...
This episode is for you.
